[ On the morning of the 13th, one day before Valentine's Day, a sudden text message appears from a Souji Seta. Perhaps you've talked to him before. Perhaps you haven't. Perhaps you're wondering why the hell you are receiving a text at six in the morning but look, let's not sweat the small details. Pay attention to the larger ones, like the contents of this very important message: ]
Hello.
Through the tides of fate, you have been chosen to participate in this year's Valentine's Day event: Blind Dating. It is believed that no one should be alone for such an important day and as such, you have been paired up with another lonely soul.
Your match is with Augustine Sauveterre. Please contact them to plan out your date for tomorrow.
However, if you and your partner do not know what to do, there will be a booth in Recollé Square for the sole purpose of assisting unsure or confused participants of the event. There will be date suggestions, booklets of pick-up lines, and refreshments.
[ it's the night after all the reporters started stalking around town, swarming people left and right, and here's Yin knocking on May's door. sort of. ]
Lower the fucking plank, May!
[ that's the sound of (1) moderately angry Jinjing and the dense metallic rattle of (12) cans of beer. ]
-And of course May, being May, was wide awake and watching her TV loudly enough Yin could probably hear it. Pro wrestling, as usual. She stumbled her way out of the cabin, turning on the floodlight to see, yep, that was Yin alright.-
Damn, girl, you're a bit late to give me a valentine, right? -May laughed, but made her way to shift the plank out for her, regardless. It would be hard for Yin not to notice, of course, that May's hands were pretty heavily bandaged.-
-She honestly debates with herself for a long time whether or not she should really respond, but...
It wasn't fair to the people she'd fought alongside to dodge them now, after all they'd been through. And while she hadn't spent a lot of personal time with Jirou, she figured he was a stubborn type when it came to this kind of thing. Better to just be... upfront.-
[ eventually theyve gotta run into each other so majima can give her a gift!! it's a ship in a bottle which is a totally thoughtful gift if you dont know that you friend has been homeless ever since she lost her ship. this is why we talk to people!!! anyway hopefully she enjoys it even so. ]
[The day after Christmas, early in the morning, and Sakura isn't in her bed.
That in itself isn't very strange. She's always an early riser (earlier than when she lived in Japan, and didn't have to contend with the nightmares), but there's no accompanying noise that follows her wakefulness: no one in the kitchen making breakfast, or taking a shower in the bathroom, or sneaking a few moments of T.V. The apartment remains dead silent.
But whenever May attempts to track the girl down, check to make sure she didn't sleepwalk herself out the door, she'll likely see a mound by the couch. A blanket fort, really, Sakura covered head to toe with one of the spare sheets.
A little strange, but hey. Maybe the spiked eggnog is still in her system.]
-May hoped it wasn't her snoring that drove Sakura into the pile. So what if she snored while drunk sleeping? That was fine, wasn't it? Or at least, she was ready to apologize for it when she reached to just sort of... pull the sheets away.-
Hey you. Whaddya want for breakfast? -She said without really looking at Sakura.-
-It took her awhile, almost an hour, before she finally found the gumption to respond. She couldn't stay angry forever, especially since things turned out like they did, but...-
[For all the nonsense Retrospec has been throwing her way lately, if there was ever a day Sakura felt determined to be happy about, it was this one. She wakes up, bright and early, stealthing her way to the kitchen where she begins phrase one of her plan: the cake.
A rum cake to be precise, and by the time she slides the finished product into the fridge to chill, Sakura is damn proud of her accomplishment.
Okay, which means it's on to phase two: breakfast...! As May sometimes makes a habit of joining her, Sakura works quickly, throwing together an American breakfast-in-bed combo she hopes her best friend will appreciate. Once it's hot off the skillet, she rearranges the food on a tray with a glass of orange juice and a cute napkin with sea waves stitched into the cloth. Phase two complete!
... So by the time she assumes May will be waking up, Sakura claps her hands in excitement and grabs the tray, ready to greet the other with food and a proper happy birthday. She sticks her head through the doorway, smiling]
-Sakura was in luck, sort of. The situation lead to May spending a good part of the last evening making sure the Mayship and all the area around it was properly painted and marked, and even with super strength, painting was tough work and she had intended to sleep in, though the smell of good good home-made Sakura Tohsaka Cuisine was stirring her from dreamland all the same. By the time her roommate called her name, her eyes had finally started to open, witnessing her truly absolute favorite sight to see first thing in the morning; Sakura's smiling visage.
With a hum and a strentch, she pulled herself up in her bed to a sitting position, letting out a blushing giggle as she realized what was happening, and remembered the importance of the date in her still waking haze. Of course Sakura would do something like this. And after everything the last month had thrown at them, she could think of no better way to officially kick off her favorite month (fives days into it, but hey, this was when it REALLY started).-
Good mornin' sunshine... Is that all for me? I'm being spoiled for my birthday, I guess...
Hey, fun fact, I have you in my phone as "weird quail hunting guy" and I totally forgot what your real name was until I checked our network thread, and then I realized even your real name is kinda weird.
[As it turns out, the Mayship is not exempt from turning invisible once the girls step outside of it.
And isn't that a pain -- knowing that it hasn't gone anywhere, but still being unable to locate the front against the invisible white haze the city has become. It isn't long before May and Sakura rush out for their paint brushes, and then afterward, hitting up a store for a pair of super soakers. They've got a lot of ship to cover, after all.]
Mmm... so we just... aim and shoot?
[It's her first super soaker and so the play gun sits awkwardly in Sakura's hands, less like a weapon and more like a delicate art piece she's afraid to drop.]
-May adjusted her goggles with one hand, handing over a pair for Sakura with the other, before slinging her weapon around, giving it a few pumps for good measure.-
Yep! Total splat attack. Gotta make sure we give this thing as much coverage as we can, or it'll cause problems for us AND the rest of the folks at the pier. She is the biggest ship here, after all.
[ included along with this text is a photograph of a broken camper. except it's not currently crashed into a column, nor are there are any people/squids within view-- it's instead chillin' in some empty lot. ]
it's no GAJILLION DOLLAR flying whaleship but special all the same check it out
[ regardless of the progression of the show, or the matches that took place, Jen's excited. events with any kind of crowd are always like that for her. of course, she's usually not in the audience for these things, but seeing things from the sideline has its own appeal.
when they pass through the doors of the bar, Jen is still laughing off May's suggestion for a new career path for her.
for the umpteenth time... ]
Look, look, I get where you're coming from! But my mom would absolutely pile-drive my ass if I even thought about it. I wouldn't even have time to be worried about the competition!
-May was just glad she made it to the finish. Going over was just the bonus, really. But hey, you don't cut your teeth in Japan without learning how to think on your feet and improvise a match if it was needed. Still, she felt more busted up than usual... a month out of practice will do that to a person, she supposes.-
See, that's why I'm suggesting you work a masked character gimmick. She'd never know, right? -Considering she was barely around as it was.-
[ well it's been a few days now, and she's mostly worked the weirdness about that dream out of her system. Jen's been busy ramping up her training, as expected, and just assumed Satsuki was busy so she didn't want to bother her.
but she did find it kinda odd that she didn't say anything about the post she had made about the birthday trip. no way would be friend forget it or want to miss out, right? ]
Hey, you! How's your schedule looking after this weekend?
-Oh she had been dreading this. Yes, it was just a dream, but boy had it revealed a lot of things about herself she wasn't quite ready to deal with in the real world. And Jen was among those things. She as all of those things.-
Hey! No matches this weekend, we're on break till next week.
[ it's definitely short notice, but ever since the first of the month she's been dealing with Bullshit from Retrospec and then image issues, so she hasn't been in the mood to hang out with so many people in rapid succession. but she did make a promise with Satsuki, and she'll keep that - with a condition. she wanted to meet with her friend at someplace they could practice sparring in relative peace. a very unusual request considering that, outside of specific sport applications, Jen was almost completely untrained in any sort of fighting. self-defense classes that she had taken in the past were "weak" by comparison to what Satsuki could do in the ring (and probably out of it, when she didn't have to hold back).
but Jen had said she wanted to see if things were different now. she'd said she wanted to try something "for old time's sake". words that felt weird to think much less type and send out. but they had been sent, and now she was parked at the end of the pier at the arranged time, ready to give Satsuki her ride.
dressed in tight jeans, boots, her Ellis Motorworks biker jacket zipped up and rad helmet, she cuts a figure very much unlike the sporty version of herself. especially considering it's no coupe they'll be cruising in, but the back of a frickin' sweet new set of wheels. ]
-Satsuki let out a low whistle... and not just at the bike, but for the sake of keeping things kosher, it was *mostly* the bike. That was a hell of a machine, and she felt intimidated just standing near it. Which was weird considering she lived in a whole-ass airship, but hey. This was different.-
Holy molly, that's one sweet ride you've got, Jen. I don't think I was ready.
[The memory is in an old-fashioned - or just old - Japanese apartment. The person who holds the memory is speaking to a heavily pregnant woman.]
Monetary compensation for raising the child, a public statement of paternity, and... you want me to name her. [The voice is Shuji's, even if the surroundings and the woman are unrecognizable.] Is that all?
That's all I want from you. [The woman seems more resigned than distressed.]
Then, give me a few days. I can fulfill those requests.
-Satsuki recognized them as being in Japan, and the spoken language being Japanese, and the familiarity of "her" voice. But the situation seemed entirely alien, and she already... didn't like the way things were going. She clenched her hands, trying to get a fuller read of the situation. Why was this happening? Who was... this person? How did they know Shuji?-
[He probably should have waited until the morning, but sometimes you just get told about a giant airship and things get carried away. It's why Hiro finds himself down at the pier not long after wrapping the conversation with May and...well. She was right. It's hard not to see the giant ship waiting there and as he approaches, all he can really say is:]
Whoa...[He should maybe find May herself, but he's going to venture forward on his own to get a better look. Hope she was prepared for that.]
[ He wouldn't get very far, at least. The only entrance to the ship that was accessible, the port-side door on one of the ship's wings, was locked tight, and the palm-reader panel next to it was unlikely to accept Hiro's hand print as valid entry ID. Thankfully, he wouldn't be waiting too long before May's voice struck out on the intercom. ]
Ahoy, matey! Gimme a minute to get down there and greetcha at the door, eh?
