Well if you're offering, I'm taking. I don't wanna go all the way to the pier by myself. -She was pretty tipsy by this point, her body already feeling too sloppy to walk straight from the mix of booze and having been in a whole ass wrestling match not long ago.-
Right now? [ Jen's done with her drink, but ordering more o.j. isn't a problem for her. if she's ready, though, Jen's going to be right behind her stool before she can get anywhere. ]
If no one's drinking, why be in a bar? [ turning toward the 'tender. ] No offense, of course. We'll be back another time.
Come on, Satsuki. Up you go! [ was she serious about the carrying part? if Jen slipping her right arm under the stool behind her friend's knees wasn't enough of a warning, then nothing was. ] Three... Two... One...
Aye-aye, captain! [ with a laugh, she made her way to the door. if no one's going to open it when they're coming she'll just have to turn around and nudge her way through. kicking it would have been badass but far too risky.
fortunately, getting a cab was so much easier now that people actually. existed. and there was an actual nightlife again. ]
[ well that was... weird. Jen laughed awkwardly and leaned forward. ]
Don't mind her. Just got back from a trip not too long ago. Still used to the cabs there.
Just head to the pier, please. We're on the biggest ship there. Caaan't miss it!
[ once that's done and they're on the way, she sits back and puts on her seatbelt. making sure Satsuki's got hers on, too. ] You must be wiped. You didn't even have that much...
I remembered I hadn't really eaten anything except an Ensure shake since, like... 11 am? So the drinks hit me hard. That and the match wears me out. I promise I'm not a lightweight, there were extenuating circum... -She doesn't finish the word, just vaguely gesturing with her hand.-
[ Jen is torn between her tipsy friend being adorable and worrying that she's going to be ill. ]
Just... don't throw up in the car, okay? It's not far, and then we can get you some water and plenty of rest. [ smirking, she pat Satsuki on the head. ] I'll berate you for skipping meals tomorrow.
[ Jen made the kind of laugh where she had to cover her mouth. though covering her face was an attempt at hiding something else in her expression entirely. she looked away, too, out of the window as they were leaving the district behind. ] If you're not careful, you'll sleep with the fishes tonight.
[ Jen bit her lip. too precious. too... goddamn...
she gave her friend a sidelong glance. she ought not to encourage this. but that energy was infectious as always. ] Maybe. Into the worst waterbed imaginable.
-Well. Not complete silence. Satsuki sort of just pressed her forehead against the window and mumble sang an old song...-
Come all ye young fellows that follows the sea To me, way hey, blow the man down Now please pay attention and listen to me Give me some time to blow the man down
I'm a deep water sailor just come from Hong Kong You give me some whiskey, I'll sing you a song
[ oh, we're passing through Shanytown on the way to the Mayship? Jen found herself humming along quietly instead. barely a ghost of the tune. she didn't have a harmonica with her — which was probably good for the taxi driver. no tip would have made up for having to listen to that. ]
-And there they were, the Mayship well visible from the road even without its safety lights all glowing in the night. Satsuki tried to pay the fare but... couldn't quite manage her purse.-
[ she reached over with her hand to steady Satsuki's. ] No worries. I've got this. [ mostly to avoid any embarrassing fumbling with bills. her tone carries more of an apology to it, too, for the earlier comment. whether or not her friend protests, she pays and tips the driver well in short order before stepping out and heading to the other side of the car. ]
-It was fine. She could pay Jen back later. Satsuki got her belt unfastened and the door open, lifting up her knees to give the other woman a place to grab.-
Thanks again, dude. [ she said to the driver after getting Satsuki out and before she bumped the door shut with her hips. they've got a bit of distance to walk yet but Jen hardly seems winded. ]
You know, it's nice out here. Even the view from my place's got nothing on this...

-She was entirely joking. But it was the point of the night where she didn't feel bad making those kind of jokes, either.-

at least they'll be pulling up to the docks soon, so if there's awkward silence to follow it won't last too much longer? ]
