-Satsuki was lucky she didn't knock the drinks over as her chest suddenly bumped into the bar cushion, but... hmm. She... sure was just gonna let herself, uh. Lean back. Into Jen. Because that was a very comfortable cushion at the moment.
The other patron was quick to apologize, at least. Lost their balance trying to head to the bathroom. Also gave a shot out to Satsuki and complimented her on her match tonight. Huge fan.-
Hey, no problem... -Satsuki kind of murmured, sipping her drink, still very much in a comfortable place all of the sudden.-
[ wait, just how long was that going on? Jen let herself get too distracted by what was happening around her and not what was happening to her. she gave an awkward sort of laugh before rapping her fingers against Satsuki's shoulders. ] Ahh, having fun down there?
[ it's funny because there's no way she would be, right? hahaha! ha. ]
-Satsuki giggled, finishing off her drink.- You're turning me into a fun puddle. And I've found a bowl I fit into. -Namely, leaning against Jen's chest.-
Ack! -Satsuki nearly doubled over, pushing her hips out, and it was a damn good thing the stool was attached to the bar itself or else she would have fallen on her ass right there.-
Haha, a weakness has been spotted! Will her opponent get the mighty pirate to finally yield? [ it's a poor approximation of an announcer's voice, but it gets the point across. Jen is good about keeping herself steady so that neither of them fall over, while also making sure to keep up the assault on Satsuki's sides. people are probably staring but whatever! ]
-Eh, it wasn't like it was the first time Satsuki and Jen had been cute together in the bar. The staff even had a few giggles. Satsuki was mostly flailing, trying to not break something with accidental super strength. Or knock over her glass.-
I tap, I tap! -She said, rapidly slapping the bar.-
Yeah yeah, look at you being all... cultured and stuff. [ Jen moved back to her seat and swirled her glass around before using the cool juice to clean her pallet. ]
I dunno if you can call it culture. -Satsuki shrugged.- But is it weird to say I feel... more Japanese since I spent all that time there? Like it wasn't just for my career, I felt like...
So the other me is Japanese, too, but she has like... no connection to it. -Because there was no longer a Japan to connect to.- And I realize I was kind of like that before I went, you know? Just like... Japan was a place. My grandparents on my dad's side were born and live there. It's where my language comes from. It was just another spot on the globe, you know? I didn't feel... I don't wanna say 'connected' again, but that's how it is, right?
[ this got real deep, real quick. Jen sat up and became more attentive, brow furrowed as she focused on what her friend was saying. ]
Mmm, I guess you're right? I can't relate, you know, but it sounds legit. [ after all, her mother went through such pains to divorce Jen from how she was born and how society might treat someone like her. "Jinjing" was too young to understand it at the time and probably can never relate to what someone growing up as Chinese-American here would be like.
at the same time she, herself, has no connection or desire to connect with her origins. the "other self" from her dreams left a lot of questions in her mind, too, but there were not enough clues there about the world itself that she sought after. except maybe to eventually figure out what kind of place it must be where teenagers have to fight giant robots as part of an obvious team. they didn't look or act like superheroes, that's for sure. so... what was it?
oh no. Jen's doing that Thing again where she's staring at her arm, lost in thought. ]
Nah, it's okay. You know I'm good with whatever's on your mind, yeah?
[ "yeah?" huh. that's odd for her but whatever. it works. Jen swishes her drink around s'more. ] Still, if you want to clock out, I won't hold you up. In fact, I'm good to get you back home if you want me to.
Well if you're offering, I'm taking. I don't wanna go all the way to the pier by myself. -She was pretty tipsy by this point, her body already feeling too sloppy to walk straight from the mix of booze and having been in a whole ass wrestling match not long ago.-
Right now? [ Jen's done with her drink, but ordering more o.j. isn't a problem for her. if she's ready, though, Jen's going to be right behind her stool before she can get anywhere. ]
If no one's drinking, why be in a bar? [ turning toward the 'tender. ] No offense, of course. We'll be back another time.
Come on, Satsuki. Up you go! [ was she serious about the carrying part? if Jen slipping her right arm under the stool behind her friend's knees wasn't enough of a warning, then nothing was. ] Three... Two... One...
Aye-aye, captain! [ with a laugh, she made her way to the door. if no one's going to open it when they're coming she'll just have to turn around and nudge her way through. kicking it would have been badass but far too risky.
fortunately, getting a cab was so much easier now that people actually. existed. and there was an actual nightlife again. ]

or something would break.
either way, she raised her hands in triumph. ] Hurray! I win!
And to the victor go the spoils. [ she will just reach on over and intercept Satsuki's new drink and take a big gulp...
ending up in a coughing fit, most like. see this? this is part of why she doesn't usually drink. ] Eeugh! Nevermind. You can keep it. Ahem.
