-May took the crowbar and sighed, regretting she was going to need to
get a new one after this if she couldn't find one laying around in a scrap
yard, but hey, it was the closest thing in the cabin she didn't mind
destroying.-
You felt it yourself, dense and heavy, so you know this is a real crowbar.
Keep that in mind.
-May took the bar in both hands, and without even a little apparent
effort, just bent the damn thing into itself, twisting it at the end,
before handing it back to Yin.-
Trust me, I know what a damn crowbar... feels.... like........
[ Yin had watched carefully. what started as curiosity had turned to wide-eyed bewilderment in short order. she took the crowbar back into her hand and just stared back and forth between it and May for what felt like five minutes. ]
That's about as way as it gets, homegirl. -May didn't seem that particularly thrilled about it, though, staring at the twisted metal with a look that could only really be described as some odd mix of apprehensive uncertainty and general anxiety.-
[ that's definitely the wrong reaction. if anything May should be lording this over Yin's head. she smirked and put the crowbar down into her lap. ] I guess now you can really walk the walk. [ Yin then frowned. ] ...that's bothering you, though. How come?
You mean besides how sudden it is? And how I had my fucking life story leaked to the internet on the same day? Or the fact I keep accidentally breaking shit?
-She was getting worked up. She paused a moment, rubbing at her face and coming a hand through her hair as she tried to calm herself down.-
[ Yin got up and walked over to rest a hand on May's shoulder. ] Hey, sorry. I was kidding. It's awesome but — yeah it's also messed up. [ the other part is more alarming. ] ...wait, what? Who was talking about you?
-She hesitated, at first, but since she figured Yin already knew all the content of the video anyways, she opened up the thing on her phone and showed it to her.-
That popped up the other day. A lot of people had them, apparently. But idk... mine felt particularly cutting.
Yeah, you kinda did. [ she wrapped her arm around May's shoulder and squeezed hard. Yin grinned down at her friend. ] The shit you're going through is weirder than me, or anyone else I know, so I'm not gonna hold it against you.
Too bad I didn't get any hero powers with it. Like x-ray vision or laser eyes. [ as much as she wanted to joke around about it, there was no humor shown on her face or in her tone. ]
...it gets. I dunno. Worse. Weirder. Something... [ Yin goes back to her beer. she definitely needs it now. ]
It's unnatural. It's freaky. I mean... what if you woke up some day blonde and you didn't dye your hair, or grow it out. Just — boom!
[ Yin sucked down the rest of her beer and crinkled the rim in her grip. ] They're his eyes. I've always taken after him. How's this supposed to make me feel?

[ the answer is obvious. no one did. certainly not May. ]

Didn't work out so hot for my knuckles.

[ humor probably isn't going to work out so well. ] Look, I can tell you're handling everything with kid gloves already. You gonna be okay...?

You know me. I bounce. But it's been rough. I couldn't get the boat ready in time so I missed the spring break crowd...

Anything I can do for you? [ though Yin felt pretty useless and inexperienced with all this, when it came to her bestie she had to try. ]

Shit, I feel like I made this whole meeting about me. Sorry...

-May peered for a moment. Then her eyes widened.-
Oh shit. Those aren't contacts.

I... don't know if I can relate to that. I don't know what it's like to have blood relatives, yanno? I wish I could be of more help.
